Posted Date: July 25, 2016

GULFPORT, Miss. —Memorial Hospital has recently been awarded two three-year terms of accreditations in Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR). Memorial Diagnostic Imaging Services has been accredited by the ACR for many years for Digital Mammography and Stereotactic Breast Biopsy. The ACR has accredited Memorial as a safe and effective facility. For more than three quarters of a century, ACR has thoroughly reviewed and assessed healthcare centers, personnel, and equipment to ensure a low risk of radiation and to prevent overtreatment.

The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Parameters and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs are assessed.
