An important part of treatment is learning how to handle the life changes and challenges that come with your diagnosis. Memorial Cancer Center is there every step of the way to help you understand what is happening and make sense of the emotions you are feeling.

  • Offering education on cancer diagnosis and treatment
  • Assisting with appointments with caregivers
  • Assisting with transportation and language concerns
  • Providing information and guidance on:
  • Medical equipment, prescriptions, wigs and prostheses
  • Nutritional/psychological counseling
  • Community agencies and support groups
  • Physical/occupational therapy

Support Groups are an invaluable part of cancer care. Sharing emotions and experiences with fellow patients, caregivers and survivors can provide needed comfort and insight.

The Living with Cancer Support Group meets on the first Tuesday of every month and provides anyone affected by cancer an opportunity to share experiences in a friendly setting. Call 228-865-3104 for more information.

Our Cancer Resource Center, located on the first floor of the cancer center, represents Memorial’s partnership with the American Cancer Society and is staffed by ACS volunteers. Wigs, supplies and information are available for patients and their families. Other organizations, including the Pink Hearts Fund, Little Things, Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Memorial Hospital Foundation, provide additional wigs, chemo kits, comfort and support.

Our Cancer Registry is an information system designed for the collection, management and analysis of data on persons with the diagnosis of a malignant or neoplastic disease (cancer).
