A: Memorial continues efforts to maintain a sustainable financial future that allows us to recruit and retain primary care physicians as well as specialists. Memorial is a public, not-for-profit health system with more than 95 physician clinics in the lower coastal counties. All operating income generated by Memorial is reinvested in the hospital and physician clinics, providing the latest technology, specialists, and many services unique to the Coast including: the only Level III NICU, the only Level II Trauma Center, the only neurosurgeons in the three lower coastal counties, and the only providers of urology, oncology, vascular, and open heart services in Harrison and Hancock counties. In recent hospital quality performance ratings, Memorial is the only community, city/county owned, CMS Hospital Compare three-star hospital in the region. We want our patients to be able to access the best possible care here at home.
