About Memorial

Memorial is a multi-specialty medical complex, supporting a comprehensive range of health and wellness services.

The Harrison County Board of Supervisors and the City of Gulfport adopted resolutions establishing Memorial Hospital at Gulfport on July 18, 1946. Now, more than six decades later, Memorial continues to expand facilities and add new staff and equipment to keep pace with ever-changing technology and a rapidly growing community. Governed by a Board of Trustees, strategic decisions are based on six core strategies: Customer Satisfaction, Growth, Work Environment, Finance, Quality/Patient Safety/Information Technology (IT) and Strong Hospital/Physician Relationship.

Memorial is a not-for-profit health system that includes a 303-bed acute care hospital, a 33-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit, an outpatient surgery center, a 109-bed behavioral health facility, a medical office building, satellite outpatient diagnostic centers and more than 48 Memorial Physician Clinics. Memorial offers several of the region’s most comprehensive clinical programs, such as emergency medicine; women and children services; orthopedic services; medical rehabilitation; cardiovascular services; neurosciences and oncology. Additionally, Memorial provides medical specialties unique to the Coast: Pediatric subspecialties, Neonatal ICU, state-designated Level II Trauma Center, WoundCare/Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy-24/7 Hyperbaric Emergencies, and Mississippi’s first nationally certified Primary Stroke Center. Memorial offers three-dimensional imaging, electronic medical records, advanced surgical techniques, including the da Vinci® Si HD™ Robotic Assisted Specialty Surgery System. Memorial Cancer Center offers the latest technology available including Varian® TrueBeam Radiation Therapy and CyberKnife® Stereotactic Radiosurgery.

With more than 2,900 employees and over 300 highly skilled physicians on staff, Memorial is one of the top 10 employers on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Memorial is accredited by The Joint Commission and is a member of the National Association of Public Hospitals, VHA, and the American Hospital Association.
