In 1995, Memorial Hospital opened the first hospital sponsored school based health clinic in Mississippi at Gulfport High School. The success of this first endeavor has led to the development of fourteen clinics on the Gulf Coast.
The Mission of the School Clinics is to:
- lower absenteeism
- reduce medical cost
- reduce incidence of catastrophic illness
- recognize early symptoms of disease
- teach the importance of a healthy lifestyle
